Gingerbread minimen from Dragonfly foods.

Our gluten free family has got used to doing without certain things when we are out and about. We mainly take it in our stride, but every now and then I have to explain to my four-year-old son why can’t have one of those delicious looking gingerbread men lurking temptingly at eye level when we visit certain food outlets.

I make a yummy gluten free version of these at home, and he always just assumes gingerbread is one of those things he is allowed to have.

So I was fairly chuffed to hear from Dragonflyfoods in Dural who have begun making gluten free gingerbreadmen for distribution around Sydney.  They sent me a party box to chomp through and they are yummy little critters – arguably even tastier than their wheaten brethren – and proved a superb hit for us over the holidays.

To assuage some of the sugary guilt associated with handing these out perhaps a touch too liberally to my son during our break, these little hand-iced treats are fairly small and completely free of preservatives, artificial colours and flavours. They are also made from real butter and local free-range eggs.

And because they come individually wrapped, we were able to take some out and about with us when we knew we were visiting a coffee shop where we would not be able to get any tasty gluten alternatives.

Helen from Dragonfly says more and more Sydney stores are stocking them, but boxes and larger party packs of them can also be purchased through her website.

I will be posting more very soon on the growing number of yummy gluten free snack bars and bikkies turning up in retail outlets and supermarkets, so if you have any particular favourites then please let us know.

I love this site, you are the best!
I was at the Gluten free show in Melbourne recently and bought a couple of yummy Macro branded biscuit bars (individually wrapped). When I checked my local Woolies, they weren’t in stock, but the manager assures me that they are on their way in store, particularly if they are requested, so get asking!! There is a double chocolate chip one and a white choc and macadamia. YUM!!!

Will do!
